To all my Brothers and Sisters in LE, Fire, and EMS
Sometimes the pressure of taking care of everyone else’s crisis, can cause us to put our own personal matters on the back burner. We often face people on the worst day of their lives; responding to high stress situations, handling traumatic scenes, and all while doing our best to appear as calm and empathetic as possible. By doing so, many of us have done our best to cope with these traumatic events through healthy and unhealthy ways.
Regardless of the things you may have done in the past to cope, I want you to know that you are not alone, and I see you. Some calls stick with you for the rest of your life and those images can haunt you to the point where you may have asked yourself, Is God even real? Does he even care? Why doesn’t he stop bad things from happening?
I have asked those questions. I walked away from religion altogether for 12 years because of negative experiences with people who called themselves Christians. I won’t lie to you, it was a hard journey, but when I came to Jesus and truly surrendered, I found a peace that I can’t fully explain. While I don’t have all the answers and I understand that past experiences with church and christianity might be the reason you may hesitate to stick around as a listener, I do want to offer you some links to helpful resources. Some resources are Christian based and some are not. The goal of sharing these is to provide some direction on where to go for common issues first responders face.
I do not earn any commission for any of these links. If you’d like to support my podcast and website consider donating here, but know that it’s not expected and this page will always stay updated for free.
